Live from the LBJ Library with Mark Updegrove

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Austin PBS and the LBJ Foundation Launch Live From the LBJ Library with Mark Updegrove: A Thoughtful New Program on Critical American Issues

Austin, TX — Live from the LBJ Library with Mark Updegrove, a new series produced by the LBJ Foundation in partnership with Austin PBS.

Host Mark Updegrove interviews preeminent thought leaders—historians, authors, journalists, filmmakers, and others—about issues throughout our history, the complicated times in which we are living, and matters vital to America's future.

Updegrove says Lyndon B. Johnson, who created PBS by signing the National Broadcast Act of 1967, wanted his presidential library to be not only a repository of history but a public forum. “The LBJ Library has a rich tradition of bringing through its doors the biggest names and best minds of our day to address the issues of our times. We want to bring these thought-provoking, entertaining conversations to a broader audience. Our partnership with Austin PBS allows us to engage audiences across the country.”

Season 1 will feature interviews with Heather Cox Richardson, William McRaven, Melody Barnes, Nicole Hemmer, Julian Zelizer, Jonathan Eig, a two-part episode with Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein.

Support for the series was provided by Lynda Johnson Robb and family, BP America, Tom and Edwina Johnson, Michael and Jeanne Klein, Betsy and Hughes Abell, Brian McCall, Joni and Joe Latimer, and Carl and Claire Stuart. Program information can be found at livefromlbj.org
