This year, there are three commemorations on what would be Johnson’s 113th birthday.
(AUSTIN-TX) – On August 26 and 27, 2021, commemorations will honor President Lyndon Johnson’s birthday in Washington, D. C., at the LBJ Ranch in Texas, and on HBO. Johnson was born on August 27, 1908, in Stonewall, Texas.
- On August 26, the Texas State Society will host a program at the LBJ Memorial Grove in Washington, DC. Participants include:
- Lynda Johnson Robb, daughter of President and Mrs. Johnson
- Bill Shute, LBJ Washington Center
- Christopher Bjornson, Texas State Society
- National City Christian Church
Video of that ceremony will be posted on the LBJ Library’s YouTube channel and on social media.
- • On August 27, there will be a traditional wreath-laying ceremony at President Johnson’s grave at the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park. Participants include:
- Justin Bates, Park Superintendent
- Carole Holmson, Park Ranger
- Jorge Hernandez, Education and Community Engagement Coordinator, LBJ Park
- Neal Spelce, Austin-based author
- Colonel Bryan Logan, Joint Base San Antonio

Lyndon Baines Johnson, 36th President of the United States, died in 1973 and is buried at the LBJ Ranch, near his birthplace in Stonewall, Texas.
